1 in 5 South Australians will be affected by mental illness in any given year.
5 in 5 South Australians can help.
The SA Mental Health Commission promotes public awareness and understanding of mental health and wellbeing.
Our series of anti-stigmatisation videos show that mental illness is common and it’s likely we know someone who is, or maybe we are, living with mental illness. It’s important then to make sure we treat each other – and ourselves – kindly and not define people by their experience of mental illness. We are much more than that.
Labelling people can cause exclusion and discrimination or ‘stigma’ which can stop people seeking help.
Support and acceptance from family, friends and the community can make all the difference.
