The Minister for Health and Wellbeing Stephen Wade has announced the SA Mental Health Commission will continue in a revised and expanded form.
The Mental Health Commission will be an independent voice, and have a direct reporting line to the Minister for Health and Wellbeing. The secretariat of the Commission will be based in Wellbeing SA, an attached agency of the Department for Health and Wellbeing.
The recruitment process for the three Commissioners – one full-time and two part-time – will begin shortly, with lived experience being a key selection criteria. It is expected that at least two of the three Commissioners will have mental health lived experience as consumers or carers.
Again, our sincere thanks to everyone who took the time to have a say on the future of the Commission during the SA Mental Health Governance Review.
